PIPELINE AND PROCESS
PIPELINE:
HOW OUR PIPELINE PUZZLE FITS TOGETHER -
PROCESS:
Each episode is cast with live action actors.
Each episode will be blocked, performed and shot in live action on a stage or reference location using a skeleton-size live action crew unit.
A 20 Day Live Action Shoot of all 10 episodes will be edited to create a Live Action Animatic.
Dialogue and Sound performance is mastered during the live action shoot.
The Camera operating and blocking is digitally motion captured during the live action shoot.
The Actors performance will NOT be motion captured but edited to create an animatic and then closely eye-referenced by the stop motion animators during the animation shoot.
Here’s an example of seamless eye matching animation -
While referencing the live action animatic cut, the animators will employ a combination of 1’s & 2’s to ensure life like fluidity of movement in principle characters.
Live action camera work will be motion captured then scaled down and cloned frame by frame using a custom designed Bolt robot arm and miniature set SLR cameras:
Here’s how a human operated camera looks at this scale:
Urban Jungle stands to be the first broadcast animation to use this unique stop motion capture process developed by Joshua Mosley - a professor of animation at the University of Pennsylvania.
EXTENSION & HYBRIDIZATION
Hyper-real painting technique to form a secondary environment extension plane after miniature builds:
Photogrammetry technique to be used to map real world locations for additional background modeling -
Green screen to be used beyond physical Puppet and Miniature builds, to allow for front projected live action footage.
Use of live action plate photography front projection to extend environments.
